OUR REPAIR WARRANTY

All repairs come with a 90 day labour warranty. Should the item break down again in that time we will not charge another diagnostic fee or subsequent labour unless the problem is significantly different from the original problem we fixed.
 
All new parts come with the balance of the manufacturers warranty (this may be the date we purchased the parts - not when we sold them to you).
 
All second hand parts carry 30 days warranty. Our liability on such parts is limited to replacement with a like part if we can get it or refund of the cost of the part if we cannot.

LOAN ITEMS

We cannot loan replacement items. You may hire basic items (monitor, PC, modem etc) from us. A security deposit equal to the value of the item is required and any rental is deducted from the deposit on the goods return in similar condition. Typical costs:
  • 15" CRT monitor (security deposit $50 and $10 per week rental)
  • 17" CRT monitor (security deposit $75 and $15 per week rental)
  • LCD monitors (security deposit equals the RRP price and rental is 15% of that per week)
  • keyboards/mice (its cheaper to buy a low cost keyboard and mouse than rent)
  • Hard disk up to 100GB (security deposit $100 and $10 per week) - larger sizes on request
  • ATX Pentium class power supply (security deposit $50 and $5 per week)
  • Routers/modems/switches (security deposit equals the RRP price and rental is 15% of that per week)
  • Printers - we have a few inkjet and small lasers (its cheaper to buy a new printer in most cases as ink/toner costs in rentals are prohibitive)

TECHMART AND QLD IT WARRANTY CLAIM PROCESSING

First check if the item has a general consumer warranty provided by the manufacturer as it will be faster to get them to do the replacement. Many products require you to return them to the manufacturer or their service agent and the Workshop cannot be involved as your agent (unless you wish to pay us a fee for doing so). The Workshop processes other Techmart and QLD IT warranty claims. Bring in proof of purchase and proof of identity and address to expedite the warranty claim processing.
 
For parts and peripherals etc: We will attempt to test the item within 2 working days. If it is found to be faulty it will be repaired or replaced as fast as the manufacturer can supply us with the item (usually 5 to 10 working days).

Any parts not found faulty will incur the following service fees:
  • $11 per item <$50 sale price
  • $22 per item $50-$150
  • $44 per item $150-$350
  • $66 per item $350>
If a product replacement is urgent we may, at our sole discretion, trade in your part (at a price based on the balance of warranty, replacement cost etc) and you may buy a new item from us with full warranty paying the difference in costs.

For custom built PC's: We will attempt to test the item within 2 working days. If it is found to have faulty hardware it will be repaired or replaced as fast as the manufacturer can supply us with the replacement parts.

If it found to be a software, virus or end user fault you will be charged as per our Pricing page for a repair (Goof Proof warranty excluded)

Dead on Arrival (DOA): Time is of the essence (usually within 48 hours of purchasing the item) in reporting this to us and we subsequently report it to the manufacturer. Please return it in the its original condition with all manuals, packaging etc. If Techmart/QLD IT have a comparable item available they will replace it with that item. If not the manufacturer will replace the item quickly.
